The University of British Columbia Occasional Papers in Linguistics (UBCOPL) is an organization dedicated to publishing quality documentation of Pacific Northwest languages in a manner that is accessible to both scholars and members of indigenous communities. The organization takes its responsibility to accurately represent these languages very seriously and strives to maintain a high standard, ensuring published works are clear and reliable. Besides maintaining a high standard of scholarly work, UBCOPL serves a special function in ensuring its publications are affordable to community members as well as scholars. This means that language materials can be accessed by communities whose languages are represented in its publications. Works published through UBCOPL also usually present content in a way that is intended to be accessible to both scholarly and community audiences.
